Why oils contain no expiration date?

Recently, a customer using essential oils asked me this question and I thought it would be good to answer them all at once.

Pure essential oils distilled from plants do not expire and can last centuries. The essential oil is not a perishable product. Because essential oils from plants maintain a biological activity, and can be used safely and effectively. Not grow mold, yeast or fungi, they do not contain water and have anti-viral antimicrobial properties.

Even the heat may affect the molecular properties of the oils. The heat will only affect the speed of the evaporation process. Evaporation does not affect the molecular properties of essential oils; only affects the volume. In a pure oil, mono-terpenes are going to evaporate first (because they are lighter molecules), and sesqui-terpenes remain intact.

When a person leaves an open bottle and the oil was evaporated slightly, were mono-terpenes evaporated. Even evaporate slowly through plastic caps and sesqui-terpenes leave behind. But that's okay, the sesqui-terpenes are the engine of Essential Oils. They are active bio-oil power.

Some essential oils jars unearthed in Egypt were still usable with sesqui-terpenoo. Dr. Woolley found frankincense in the sands of Oman and still had oil in the resin, even after more than 65 years of being buried. The resin itself can be maintained in the Omani market for 5-10 years and still maintains its properties.

Other companies use essential oils an expiration date of 3 years from bottling ment of essential oil. However, an expiration date for essential oils is not required in the US, only in Austria and a few other countries. If not necessary then why some companies put it? It would seem that these companies have a concern with their own oil. What are the chemicals in their oils allow them only last for 3 years? It is a reactive oil, is it stable? Is there anything in them that makes them unstable?

So why is there an expiration date on something that should not expire? Why would their oils bad? Are they selling cheaper grade oils that do not last long because they have been adulterated? Are you having another tactic to sell more oils telling their customers that their oils are due? Maybe it's a combination of all these (and even).
I also read testimonials from people who do not want to buy an essential oil that has more than 5 years in its original bottle. As I said, the age of Essential Oil does not matter, but even if it were important, a company that has a volume of big business there regularly break the inventory ... They do not store for 5 years because they sell everything they produce within 6 months …

Finally, as you know, there is no expiration date on bottles of wine. It seems so logical for all of us that the best wines are those that have aged in bottle somewhere in a dark cave. So logical, right?

However, with a head of importation of Carrefour in Mexico City, he told me: "michos containers used to import wine were going through the Mexican port of Veracruz.
All imports went well, except for one. This wine container was stopped at customs for import officer opened a couple of boxes and was not able to find an expiration date on bottles. The container was immediately captured by customs and left the dock under the heavy sun of Veracruz.

Although we knew that after a couple of days in these conditions the wine had lost much of its value, we continue to struggle, especially because we were heavily fined. After 6 months, the container was still in the dock and finally gave up, paid all fines and throw the contents of the container. "

Therefore, there is no expiration date on bottles of wine and bottles of essential oil. And we explained why this chemical, if you liked the publication and comment share it, or I give like to continue publishing curious things and chemicals ask me to advise me to respond you.
